How to Enable Automatic Updates in iOS 12

The iOS 12 update has so many new changes that includes ARKit 2, tools which can be used to promote digital wellness, more Animoji and Memoji, if you want an animated version of yourself, Siri Shortcuts, Group Face Time and much more. In addition to the major features, it has another new feature called Cupertino giant which has added to its Operating System and it has an ability to automatically update the device. Its obviously true, now the users will be able to automatically update their iPhone and iPad to the latest iOS versions in the background as and when they come.

Now, the Apple has pulled the wraps off iOS 12, its next-generation operating system for iPhones and iPads. During the time of WWDC 2018 keynote, the Apple has showed off various features that will be making their way to iOS as well as talked about doubling the performance with iOS 12 over the previous version. Some of the key highlights present in the update are Augmented reality, digital wellness, Siri shortcuts, and a focus on sharing your experience with fellow iOS users. However, the Apple started the presentation by talking about optimizing its A-series CPUs to boost iOS performance in the latest version to launch apps much faster.

Apple can also introduced a slew of interesting features that can provide a seamless transition between the real and digital world. To explain its process, Apple showcased a new app called “Measure” that allows you do gauge dimensions of object in the physical world. You can also get the Quick Look to easily visualize the virtual 3D objects in your real life in their actual size. In addition, the Photos in iOS 12 are also getting very smarter and will now show a customized feed of all the clicked and shared images in a single window called “For You”. Now, you can get easy options to share images with contacts based on places of interests or your visit to a specific event. The sharing has to be done by using the iCloud but unlike Google Photos there is no unlimited or free storage. I can also try the following method on my iPhone X running iOS 12.0 Beta, and the method worked just fine.

1. First off, head over to Settings -> General -> Software Update.

2. The phone will first check for any new updates. Now, tap on “Automatic Updates”.

3. Now, you have to enable the toggle which is next to “Automatic Updates”.

And that’s it. Now, your device will automatically search and download the iOS updates in the background, whenever they are released.

It can really enhance the overall user experience, by allowing the user to easily update his/her device to the latest iOS versions as and when they are launched and enabling this feature is not that hard either. Well, I have enabled in on my device, for I love to stay on the latest versions at all times.
